Magnificent Sea of Textures Bundle

Well, I went through a major crush on elephants after reading Jodi Picoulti’s Leaving Time, a fantastic mystery. The book isn’t about elephants but I learned so much about their personalities and compassion I just wanted to have one of my very own. I have a husband who can’t stand it if I don’t have everything I want so I have and elephant table I call Ellie and countless elephant figurines, having the real thing presented too much of a problem, just cleaning up the poop was enough to put me off. Anyway now I want an octapus, they’re so adorably ugly and fascinating I don’t know much about their personality but they’re pretty cool to watch.

Making this card was so much fun, I’ve really become addicted to the Brusho powders, they create a unique and unpredictable background for any card. I used a large background stamp from the “You’ve Got This” stamp set to stamp the Crumb Cake paper before using the thinlit to cut out the net. The stamp set is retired–dang it but any texture background would work, I also used the texture stamp from the stamp set on the sentiment before heat embossing it.

Card Recipe:

Paper:

  • Blueberry Bushel card stock 8½ x 5½, scored at 4¼
  • Daffodil Delight 5¼ x 4, scrap for sentiment
  • Water Color Paper 5 x 3¾
  • Whisper White 5 1/4 x 4 (for inside) scraps for Octapus & Star Fish
  • Crumb Cake scrap for net
  • Calypso Coral scrap (Coral)
  • Coastal Cabana (Coral)
  • Old Olive scrap (sea weed)

Stamps and Thinlets:

  • Sea of Textures stamps
  • You’ve Got This stamp set (I used the large texture stamp stamped off once to add texture to the net)
  • Under The Sea Thinlits (Save 10% by ordering the bundle)
  • Layered Oval Framelits – sentiment

Color:

  • Brusho Crystal Color (my new obsession)
  • Blueberry Hill (for the sentiment, it looks black so either will do)
  • Versa Mark ink pad
  • Clear Embossing Powder
  • Gray Granite (Octapus), I stamped this using my Stamparadus so I could use my Vera Mark and heat emboss it with clear)
  • Crumb Cake ink pad
  • Blueberry Bushel ink pad (I stamped the sentiment then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder)
  • Calypso Coral (I applied this to the star fish with my Aqua Painter)
  • Coastal Cabana (I applied this with my Aqua Painter to the white parts of the Octapus, then went over it with a Pineapple Punch marker)

Other:

  • Big Shot
  • Heat Gun
  • Stamparadous
  • Stampin’ Dimensional’s
  • Snail Adhesive
