DIY Barn Door Thank You Card using Stampin’ Up’s Bird Banter & Barn Door Stamps

This adorable card is so deceiving, it looks like you might spend an hour to create a card like this but once you have your supplies together you can knock this out in 20-30 minutes, you  just need to know how. These cards are a mish mash of some cards I’ve seen posted by Jackie Bolhuis and Diana Durst. Dry embossing the Pool Party background with my favorite Pinewood Plank Dynamic embossing folder using my Big Shot, then using the Sponge Brayer to roll on Crumb Cake ink gives the background a cool wood texture. The Barn Yard door was stamped using Crumb Cake ink onto Crumb Cake paper using my Stamparadus so I could stamp my Versa Mark ink right on top of the crumb cake, then heat embossed to give it some texture. I stamped and colored the birds and sentiment onto Whisper White cardstock. I put door, Pool Party, rod, hinges and door handle on my Big Shot and cut them out using the Sliding Door Framelets. I’ve attached a video to show you how easy it is to make the door slide across the card.

Card Recipe:

  • Crumb Cake card base 8½ x 4½, scored at 4¼, 3½ x 2½ scrap for the door
  • Pool Party 5¼ x 4
  • Whisper White card stock 4 x 2¼
  • Basic Black scraps for hardware

Stamps & Dies

  • Bird Banter stamp set
  • Barn Door stamp set
  • Sliding Door Framelets

Color:

  • Crumb Cake ink pad
  • Basic Black ink pad
  • Garden Green ink pad
  • Vera Mark ink pad
  • Clear Embossing Powder
  • Stamp and Write Markers, Daffodil Delight, Basic Black, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Crumb Cake

Other:

  • Pinewood Planks embossing folder
  • Silver brads
  • Small Stampin’ Dimensional’s
  • Foam Adhesive Strips
  • SAE #6 Washers from the hardware store

Here is similar card using Bird Banter

I used Crumb Cake for the card base, dry embossed the Pool Party with the Pinewood Planks and randomly added Versa Mark, sprinkled copper embossing powder then brushed off areas where it was too thick. For the heart I used the Sure Do Love You stamp set, dimensions are the same as above. To color the pig I and the ground I used Stampin’ Write markers from the Subtle’s collection, Blushing Bride, Crumb Cake and Garden Green for the ground

About the Author:

I am a proud mother of 4 and even prouder grandmother of 5. I started "stamping" over 25 years ago and stopped stamping about 10 years after that because I was so frustrated with my results. Enter Pinterest. Inspired by Pinterest and Youtube I got involved again and oh man am I obsessed! I fell in love with Stampin' Up products after seeing all the amazing cards on Pinterest. I chose Stampin' Up because I love how simple it is to make a gorgeous card with all their coordinating colors and products. Hope you enjoy my website.
